Annnnnd... Done!
Bad Blood is off my plate now. I just finished the proofing rewrite and sent the working copy of the manuscript to Nick for recording. But he's not scheduled to start until a week from tomorrow, so it's just going to sit and simmer for a week, while I jump back into Apalach Affair.
Here's my current release schedule for the next year. Subscribers to my newsletter pay less than half during the first few days of a new preorder. And my online Ship's Store releases new books a week early.
Bad Blood - June 1, on preorder now.
Apalach Affair - September 1, preorder starts May 1.
Jesse #29 - December 1, preorder starts September 1.
Jesse #30 - March 1, 2025, preorder starts December 1, 2024.
Cocaine Cowboy - June 1, 2025, preorder starts March 1, 2025.

Back into writing mode today.
I've been rewriting for two weeks and keep finding myself moving the cursor up to the top, to hit Accept, and go to the next correction.
First day back after so long away, it's always a little slow. But I'm working on next week's word quota already, so I can take it slow and ease back in.

I have 29 of 207 pages left to rewrite in Bad Blood, but my eyes are crossed. It's available for preorder at Amazon and my online Ship's Store, where it's a dollar less.
It's now up to 64,000 words, slightly longer than planned, and barring any major repairs, I should finish tomorrow, which is good. I'm anxious to get back over to Apalach Affair, which is a third finished.

Passed the 2/3 mark in the Bad Blood rewrite today, after my editor had it for a couple of weeks. I'll finish it up on Thursday, then it's off to my final proofreader, and to my narrator, Nick Sullivan, to prep for recording week after next. We're several days ahead of schedule, so I'm not rushing.

Some of y'all might know that a couple of years ago, I took up a new hobby.
Rest assured, this doesn't impede my writing. Just the opposite. I have more energy and my mind is a lot more focused since I took up resistance training to lose weight.
For the last ten years, I've written and published three books a year. But 2024 will be four books and I'm planning the same for 2025, as well.
March 1 - Swift and Silent
June 1 - Bad Blood
September 1 - Apalach Affair
December 1 - Untitled
Well, last week, after more than two years of training, I did a thing.
I deadlifted 300 pounds!
When I started in January 2022, I couldn't get 200 more than a few inches off the deck.
I added a hundred pounds to my deadlift in two years. Even with an Achilles surgery last summer.

Met up with an old trucking buddy and brother Marine, Bill Correll, who was unloading at Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort this morning. Bill was born at MCAS Beaufort and it was his first time back since he was an infant.
He's been carrying a small jar he wanted to give me since 2021. It and another one were given to him by another driver who'd carried them around since 2019, hoping to run into him somewhere on the road. The jars were given to that driver by a retired Marine gunnery sergeant who in 1995 had escorted some of America's finest to a tiny rock in the Pacific Ocean.
Every year, Bill and the other driver hauled wreaths for Wreaths Across America, and that's where they met the gunny. But Bill arrived and loaded early in 2019 and the gunny missed giving him the jars, so gave them to the other driver in the hopes they'd run into one another.
They finally did after two years. And Bill and I finally hooked up after ten years.
This tiny jar contains sand from Red Beach, Iwo Jima.
