Late night last night. Didn't get to bed until almost 2300, then got up six hours later to hit the gym at 0600.
Great workout this morning at Stay Strong Fitness with Jeff. Then I got to the office and added 2,200 words to the Apalach Affair manuscript, and worked on business things for the rest of the day.
People ask, "Doesn't all that working out make you tired?"
Initially, yes.
But if you push through, you'll quickly find that a 30-45 minute workout in the morning will give you MORE energy throughout the day, not less.
And it will make you stronger.
Strong people are harder to kill.

So happy that your workout leads to a healthier and more productive you! We all benefit!

Amen!!

I’ll say it again: you’re such an inspiration!

I expect to hear Jesse say that in the next book! (Strong people are harder to kill) 😁

Just finished Swift and Silent. Another great Jesse McDermitt outing! I had to laugh after the bad guys had gotten Jesse’s attention. All I could think was “y’all in trouble now!”😄😄😄 Then when Charity showed up, I was practically on the floor ‘cause they *definitely* had *no* idea just how much trouble they were in…..🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂. Swift and Silent left Jesse with his blood boiling…….Greece is in some serious trouble now……😂😂😂😂 Looking forward to Jesse and Charity cleaning up the Greek isles…..🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Reading Sellers Market now. It’s so touching to see young Jesse up close. He has endured more loss and heartache than one person deserves……When he says he’s earned the right to retirement, no truer words were spoken…….. Looking forward to more in the young Jesse series!💕💕💕

Swift and Silent had a great launch three weeks ago, and Bad Blood, scheduled for release on June 1, is with my editor. I'm currently working on Jesse #28, Apalach Affair, and just passed the 10,000 word mark in the manuscript, or about 15% complete. It's scheduled for release on September 1, my third book for the year, with one more coming on December 1. I'm in a race to reach #30 by July 2025, when I will be 66 years and 8 months old, and eligible for full retirement. ... See MoreSee Less

Once you retire, will you continue to write, just at a more leisurely pace?

Can’t wait

Always look forward to your releases. Be well, write with enjoyment and know that you are appreciated.

Can’t wait love your books

Great book.

So thankful for your prolific efforts! Love them all!

Wayne, I'm 77 and retired, and I keep on doing what I love. I just hope you love writhing the Jesse series cause I still love reading them

"Full Retirement" is a Social Security term that has a single specific meaning. After that date, if you draw Social Security AND continue to have earned income, they will NOT take back any of what you are drawing in Social Security. Otherwise, if you are already drawing before the Full Retirement date, you are limited currently to a little over $21k before they penalize you. Begining at age 62, Social Security benefits increase at a constant 8%, age irrelevant, plus whatever average earnings and systemic COLAs effect.

Reading “Swift and Silent” today on a windy beach day in Mexico.

just finished Swift and Silent while relaxing in very breezy tradewinds on Poipu Beach in Kauai

Read it last week while on a cruise.

You keep writing and I'll keep reading. From the North Coast of America. (Superior, Wisconsin) Beautiful white sandy beach outside my front door.

Loved Swift and Silent. 5 star review left

Read all your books. Can't wait for more

It's Spring Time!
My favorite time of year.
Here in the south, trees and grass are just starting to green up. At night, the tree frogs and big bull frogs are singing. This morning, just before dawn, I stopped my workout and stepped out of the gym to just listen to the dawn chorus. The song birds were very vocal with the coming of warmer weather.
While it might still be cold where you are, just say to yourself over and over, "Old Man Winter is gone."
But in some places, he might leave the door open on the way out.
Spring is a state of mind.

Oh, this is gonna be fun...
Usually, I don't write chapter one of a new book until after I've written at least chapters two through eight or ten. I don't outline, I simply make up the story as I go and chapter one is usually "the crime" but until my protagonist stumbles upon it in the story, I don't know what the crime is.
As of Friday, chapters one, two, and three are complete, and I already know which way Jesse's headed, and who will accompany him.
These are strange waters for me, knowing where the story's headed, and I feel like it will be coming out faster than usual.
I just started Apalach Affair two weeks ago, when we went to Apalachicola to get a feel for the area. I'm scheduled to finish writing it in late June, fourteen weeks from now. Today starts week three, and I'm nearly 2,000 words, or two whole days, ahead of schedule, and something's telling me I'll finish sooner.
Any takers?

Awesome 😎

I can’t imagine a better way to write. I’m not smart enough to outline, but even if I were, it would be a horrifically boring way to write. I love discovering the story as it happens. I’m currently in a holy war with the voices in my head. I want the story to continue differently than they seem to want. I’m nervous to veto their decision because I’m afraid they’ll stop talking to me and I’ll have to get a real job. Write on, my friend!

I’m impatiently waiting.

I'll wait for GREAT.

I’ll take it. As soon as you write it and get it published, I’ll read it. I love hearing how you go about writing, what you thinking is and how you put things together. To hear you don’t know where the story goes makes me laugh. If the writer doesn’t know, the reader should surely not know. Your books are at the top of my “enjoyment” list. Thank you for every one of them so far. Please don’t stop!

Yes please. I've read Swift and Silent, and now I'm listening to Nick Sullivan's recording of the same. I'll need another Jesse and crew fix very soon. Wayne, all joking aside...I have truly enjoyed every one of your books. My sincerest thanks to you and your family.

"And now," he says, "back to Nick Sullivan's recording of Swift and Silent?"

If you missed last Tuesday's livestream of the TalkWrite Show, it was a Hot Tropix Round Table streamed live from our vacation rental on St. George Island and a couple of authors drove over and joined us. Mac Fortner drove a couple of hours through the rain from Panama City Beach, and he picked up Kirk Jockell in Port Saint Joe. Don Rich also joined us remotely from Virginia, with Nick Sullivan co-hosting from New Jersey.
Here's the recording of the show. Sorry it's late, but we just got back from vacation, er... make that "research trip."

Okay, it finally happened. Kind of.
Very recently, someone said publicly that my writing seemed like it might be the product of using AI.
First off, I'm very vocal and public about not using machine learning to write or even assist in writing. There are many "authors" out there now turning to this form of "creating" a novel.
I'm not one of them.
The closest I come is using MS Word's Editor to point out obvious typos before I sent it to my editor.
Here's the rub. A statement like that could be damaging to an author's book sales. The key word there is "damaging."
This is called libel.
If you are sued for libel, the plaintiff doesn't have to prove your statement was false, only that it was financially damaging.
So, you better have evidence of something to prove your statement true before throwing around baseless accusations.

Been accused of that as well. I'm sure there are some out there that might have AI "write" their books for them, but every legitimate writer I know LOVES to write. It's our creative outlet. If I had a sense of rhythm, I'd probably be in a band. If I had any acuity with a paintbrush, I'd be an artist. If I didn't move like a drunken hippopotamus trying to navigate a lopsided staircase in a pair of broken roller skates, I'd be a dancer. But, no, I need a form of personal expression that can be undertaken in my underwear after hit by a muse at three in the morning. I guess I could dance like that, too, but not without ending up on some sort of registry.

We know that’s not true

Can we publically call that jack wagon a turd fondler? First you've been writing the same style and quality for many years - long before AI writing was a thing. B....you have consistently proven you can write multiple books in a year, again prior to AI. And III, your writing, style, and dialog are too specialized to be generative. The only people that could suggest that have either not read the books or don't understand AI

They likely said it because of jealousy and their inability to write something of substance. Forget the nay sayers and let your books keep doing the talking for you. Furthermore, your writing style hasn't changed dramatically since you started producing your books, and I think the ability of AI is current and wasn't around when you first started to write.....In other words eff them!!! I Love your books my friend.

AI creeps me out

there's always going to be that one dumbass, maybe if they finally get held accountable they will shut up

We know that's not true...reading Swift and Silent right now..another great one Wayne..love all your 📚💞 Thank you..and I'm angry someone would say this about you🤬

That is bs!! I don’t think an ai could create the depth of characters you have also the scenes that bring you into picturing of land and sea

No doubt in my mind, every word is yours. Read every book you’ve written. Sail on, Big Man!

Hi Wayne Stinnett, just want to clarify a point as it seems you're dismissing the "falsehood". (And yes, know you write every word of your books). But libel is far more complex and there are four factors: To prove prima facie defamation, a plaintiff must show four things: 1) a false statement purporting to be fact; 2) publication or communication of that statement to a third person; 3) fault amounting to at least negligence; and 4) damages, or some harm caused to the reputation of the person or entity who is the subject. In lay terms, that's this: Libel is the publication – in words, photos, pictures or symbols – of false statements of fact that harm another’s reputation. (Libel is a form of defamation. Slander is the spoken version of defamation.) Reprinting or re-broadcasting a libelous statement made by someone else (such as a quote or another media post) can also subject a publication/entity/person to a libel lawsuit. However, if a statement is true, it cannot be the basis of a successful libel claim. There are four elements a person must establish in order to prove he or she has been defamed: Publication, Identification, Harm and Fault. Each of the four elements must be proven. For example, even if a story you have written meets the publication, harm and fault elements, a libel claim will still fail if you have not identified the claimant.

Your writing is obviously from the heart and your brain!

I would guess someone is jealous of how well written your books are. I devour them as soon as they hit my library. Keep them coming.

I would always believe every word is yours!

Would not use it to write with either. But, I have also been accused.

The way you write so descriptive and from the heart - it’s plane to see it the real deal. When you’re dealing with so many people at the retail level a few turd fonderlers- will show up! We know what Jesse does with those heartless souls !!!

Just saw an ad on YouTube where a guy, using AI, "wrote" and published a 200-page self-help ebook in under an hour. The market will be flooded with the junk, making it impossible for original indie to get any traction. True creative Indie is doomed.

Love your books, Wayne! We know that accusation is not true. Just finished Swift and Silent and can’t wait for the next book!

What makes anyone think you use AI to write your books? RIDICULOUS!😡

You have been writing fantastic books for a while before AI. And I look forward to any you decide to write in the future.

I would call bovine scatology on that statement of someone, your books have been out for quite some time and know those statements are false.

I’m sorry the hear that happened.

We all love and enjoy your books. Some miserable people will stoop to anything. Just please keep doing what you do best. Love your family, keep writing great stories and enjoy life.

I knew you’d get busted one day, you scoundrel. Now, you’ll have to write under that other pen name you use. I think it’s Stephen King, right?

I read and enjoy your books but need to correct your misstatement. In order to prove libel, a plaintiff must show: a false statement was made in writing. The statement was published or otherwise communicated to third parties. When they communicated the false statement they must have failed to take adequate steps to verify its truth. All of those elements must be present.

Behind you Wayne Stinnett.
